To all of our new students and families of the Independent School Batam
We would like to express our heartfelt thanks to all parents for their continued support over the past uncertain school years. A special thank you goes out to all the new parents who are sending their children to the Independent School Batam (ISB) for the first time. We successfully completed the 2023-2024 academic year, performing well in the post-COVID-19 era. Our final-year students excelled a testament to our resilience and dedication. This success coincided with our school’s silver jubilee, marking 25 years since the founding of the Independent School Batam, formerly known as the International School Batam. These past 25 years have been quite a journey for us. Although we are a small school, we have produced alumni who are now spread across the globe, leading successful lives and pursuing incredible careers. Let’s hope that the global situation continues to improve, allowing us to resume normal studies without concerns or fears.
Our teachers and staff have been working diligently during the school holidays to prepare for the start of the 2024-2025 school year. To parents whose children are just joining our Pre-School, we look forward to working together during this major step in your young child’s life. At ISB, we place great emphasis on creating a warm and caring environment to ensure that your child’s first educational experience is positive and fulfilling. Children moving on to Reception One (R1) and Reception Two (R2) will find that they have more studies than in Pre-School as they prepare for the Primary level. Of course, our Primary students are expected to spend more time studying in school and will have more challenging homework, appropriate to their year group.
ISB has offered Key Stage 3 (Years 7, 8, and 9) as Junior High School for the last fifteen years. In the twelfth year, we expanded this to include our Senior High School, Key Stage 4 (Year 10). ISB has specially designed a 9-month preparatory course to prepare students for the Cambridge IGCSE examination, aiming to ensure that they can gain entry to top universities worldwide. With the IGCSE qualification, students can continue their education through A-Level programs, IB (International Baccalaureate) programs, University Foundation Programs, Diploma Programs, or Associate Degree Programs (in the USA). We are proud to say that our alumni have consistently achieved excellent results in English, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology, and Physics in these examinations.
Alumni of The Independent School Batam have successfully passed the Singapore-Cambridge General Certificate of Education (GCE O-Level) Examination since 2014, as well as the Cambridge IGCSE. With 25 years of extensive experience in various international curricula, our students have consistently achieved excellent results and gained entry into prestigious universities and colleges worldwide, including, University of Bath, United Kingdom, University of New South Wales, Australia, Monash University, Malaysia, Singapore Polytechnic and Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore.
We are pleased to inform you that students will return to on-campus study starting Tuesday, the 27th of August, 2024. We are hopeful that our situation will continue to improve as our children begin their studies for the 2024-2025 school year. ISB is a place where people care for each other and help new students feel welcome, enjoy school, and respect the cultural differences of many nationalities. We wish everyone a rewarding year, and once again, we thank you for your on-going support.
